Work Shadowing Placements
In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) CUH has no alternative but to continue to postpone or cancel any non-essential visits, events, and meetings planned. This means we have to stand down all planned work experience and shadowing opportunities on our site as we also want to reduce as many visitors as we can until the end of March 2021. This will include any visits/events planned by our work opportunities team.
- Physiotherapy: Four half days, either AM or PM
This is a popular programme for students studying biology and with an interest in Physiotherapy as a future career prospect. Individuals spend time with various Physiotherapy teams in order to get an over view of the role of the Physiotherapist. We have two programmes which run every month. Both take place over four days, from Monday – Thursday, and are held on the second week of every month. The morning programme is from 9am – 12 midday and the afternoon session is 13.30pm – 16.30pm.

Medical Shadowing is specifically for sixth form students applying to study medicine / AHP / Science at University. The placement aims to provide an insight into the working life of the Consultant or Junior Doctor in order to aid the student in completing their UCAS application for Medical School. Students will shadow a Consultant / Clinician for 1-3 days depending on availability during which time they will observe patient consultations, ward rounds, clinic / department procedures, multidisciplinary team meetings and emergency care. Applications must be submitted at least two months prior to the placement request date as health clearance from our Occupational Health team will be required before the placement can take place.
